China Pharmaceutical University (CPU) is situated in the historical and cultural city of Nanjing. Founded in 1936, it is the first national institution for higher pharmaceutical education in China.It is one of the state “211 Project” and “985 Project Innovation Platform”key universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education. CPU is a multi-disciplinary and research-oriented university with pharmacy as its characteristics.The construction of pharmaceutical discipline groups with pharmacy and traditional Chinese pharmacy as its leading disciplines has always maintained the leading role in China, and has been known as the "cradle of biomedical talents in China". In 2017, it became a member of the“Double First-class”construction universities.

中国药科大学坐落于古都南京，始建于1936年，是我国历史上第一所由国家创办的药学高等学府。学校为教育部直属、国家“211工程”和“985工程优势学科创新平台”建设高校，是一所以药学为特色的多科性、研究型大学，其中以药学、中药学学科为龙头的药学学科群建设始终保持国内领先水平，素有“中国生物医药人才摇篮”的美誉。2017年，成为国家“双一流”建设高校。

CPU is composed of two campuses, namely the Xuanwumen Campus and the Jiangning Campus, which cover a total area of about 2100 mu (140 hectares). Currently, CPU hosts more than 19440 full-time students, including 11262 bachelors or associate degree candidates, 7688 postgraduates, 490 international students. It has 1,868 faculty and stuff, including 1128 full-time teachers.Since its foundation, its alumni include numbers of high-quality pharmacy professionals, 10 academicians and a large number of well-known experts and scholars in the field of pharmacy.Among CPU's current faculty members, there are 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 academician of the German Academy of Sciences, 14 national high-level talents and 36 national high-level young talents.Since 2000, it has won four times the first prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award (conferred every four years), the highest governmental award of China's education. The employment rate of graduates has long been the top among the universities under the Ministry of Education and universities in Jiangsu Province.  

学校现有玄武门、江宁2个校区，占地2100余亩；全日制在校生19440人，其中本专科生11262人、研究生7688人、留学生490人；在职教职工1868人，其中专任教师1128人。学校荟萃了医药领域众多知名专家，走出了10位院士和一大批药学领域著名专家学者。现有中国工程院院士1人、德国科学院院士1人，国家级高层次人才14人次，国家级高层次青年人才36人次。2000年以来，已4次获得我国教育领域政府类最高奖励——国家级教学成果奖（四年一届）一等奖。毕业生就业率长期位居教育部直属高校及江苏省高校前列。

CPU is committed to building a world-class “Modern Pharmaceutical Discipline System 2.0”, with “pharmacy + X”as the lead, “new pharmaceutical” and “Big pharmacy” as the feature, integrating the development of medicine, pesticide and veterinary medicine. There are a total of 16 schools and departments, covering 31 undergraduate majors,3 first-level disciplines of academic doctoral research centers (pharmacy, traditional Chinese pharmacy, biology), 1 professional doctoral research center (biology and medicine), 8 first-level master's academic degree programs, 5 master's academic degree programs, and 2 post-doctoral research sites (pharmacy, traditional Chinese pharmacy). The traditional Chinese pharmacy has been selected as the national "Double First-class" construction discipline. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, pharmacy was rated A+. In the fifth round of national discipline evaluation and national professional degree level assessment, thedisciplines pharmacy and traditional Chinese pharmacy has always maintained a leading role. In 2023, 7 disciplines including Pharmacology & Toxicology, Chemistry, Clinical Medicine, Biology & Biochemistry, Materials Science, Agricultural Science, and Neuroscience &Behavior ranked ESI global top 1%, among which Pharmacology & Toxicology ranked ESI global top 1‰ (1.59 per 10,000) in the world, 19th in the world and 1st in Asia. In the 2023 US News World University Rankings, CPU's Pharmacology & Toxicology rank 7th in the world. In Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), CPU's Medicinal Chemistry has been ranked 3rd in the world.In the 2022 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, the disciplines of pharmacy and traditional Chinese pharmacy ranked the first and second in China respectively, both of which entered the "Top Disciplines in China".

学校致力于建设以“药学+X”为牵引、“新药科”和“大药学”为特征，医药、农药、兽药融合发展，面向世界一流的“现代药学学科体系2.0”。现有16个院部，31个本科专业（类），3个一级学科博士学位授权点（药学、中药学、生物学），1个博士专业学位授权点（生物与医药），8个一级学科硕士学位授权点，5个硕士专业学位授权点，2个博士后流动站（药学、中药学）。中药学学科入选国家“双一流”建设学科。在全国第四轮学科评估中，药学学科获评A+。在第五轮学科评估和全国专业学位水平评估中，龙头学科药学和中药学继续保持优势，均取得优异成绩。2023年，药理学与毒理学、化学、临床医学、生物与生物化学、材料科学、农业科学、神经科学与行为等7个学科领域的ESI排名进入全球前1%，其中药理学与毒理学排名全球前1‰（万分之1.59），位列全球第19位、亚洲高校第1位。在2023 US News 世界大学排行榜中，药理学与毒理学学科位列全球第7位。在世界大学排名中心（CWUR）学科排行中，学校药物化学学科位列全球第3位。在2022软科中国最好学科排名中，学校药学、中药学学科分别排名国内第1位、第2位，均进入“中国顶尖学科”。

CPU takes the initiative to serve China's major national strategies and continuously improves the independent innovation capability of new drug research and development. It has established the national key labs of "Multi-target Natural Medicine", key labs at provincial or ministerial levels, engineering technical centers, and innovative platforms, realizing the full coverage of the scientific research platforms in the fields of chemical medicine, traditional Chinese pharmacy and biological medicine, and providing all-round services for the research and development of various new drugs.The university has established academic collaboration with overseas universities and institutions in over 40 countries and regions. Recent years, CPU ranks 1st among Chinese universities in the number of major scientific and technological projects awarded by the National Major New Drug Development project, winning 4 Science and Technology Progress Award and 1 Technology Invention Award.

学校主动服务国家重大战略，不断提升新药研发自主创新能力。建有“多靶标天然药物”全国重点实验室和省部级重点实验室、工程技术中心以及创新平台，实现了化学药、中药、生物药三大领域科研平台的全覆盖，为各类新药的研发提供全方位服务。与海外40多个国家和地区的院校及科研机构建立实质性学术合作关系。近年来，获国家科技进步二等奖4项、国家技术发明二等奖1项，获批国家“重大新药创制”科技重大专项项目数稳居全国高校之首。
