CPU International Students Alumni Association in Mongolia- Inaugural Meeting

On the afternoon of November 9th, the inaugural meeting of China Pharmaceutical University International Students Alumni Association in Mongolia (CPU-ISAAM) was successfully held. The inaugural meeting was attended by Kong Lingyi, Vice President of China Pharmaceutical University, Yu Guangcong, Vice President of China Pharmaceutical University, Xu Ming, Dean of School of International Education, Zhu Zhilong, Vice Dean of School of International Education, Qiu Mingming, Vice Dean of School of International Education, Yu Boyang, from School of Traditional Chinese Pharmacy, and more than 20 Mongolian alumni online. The meeting was chaired by Xu Ming.

First of all, Mongolian alumni representative Gantur Ganchimeg reported the preparatory work for the establishment of the CPU-ISAAM. Then it was followed by the announcement of the organizational structure by Xu Ming, Dean of School of International Education. Based on the nomination of alumni representatives and review by School of International Education, Jargalsaikhan Javkulan was elected as the first President of the CPU-ISAAM, Gombodorj Surenmandakh as the Vice President, Tilyek Akhtolkhyn as the first Secretary General, and Gantur Ganchimeg as deputy Secretary General.

Vice President KONG congratulated the establishment of the CPU-ISAAM on the behalf of China Pharmaceutical University. “Students from Mongolia are diligent and hard-working, who impressed the CPU students and faculty ,” he said. “China Pharmaceutical University has cultivated nearly 100 Mongolian students up to now, and they are now playing an important role in pharmaceutical education, scientific research, drug production, drug supervision andmanagement, health care and other fields in Mongolia. He encouraged Mongolian students to promote the cultural exchanges between China and Mongolia and actively offer suggestions for the development of CPU, so as to give full play to the positive role of the international students alumni association.

Vice President YU also expressed his congratulations, and he hoped that the CPU-ISAAM will uphold the spirit of the university motto of “dedicated to the academic excellence and devoted to public health” and the working philosophy of CPU Alumni Association, continue to promote the communication and cooperation between Mongolian alumni and CPU, enhance the friendship and collaboration among alumni, inherit and carry forward the fine traditions of CPU, and make contributions to the development of CPU and the pharmaceutical undertakings.

Prof. Yu Boyang, from School of Traditional Chinese Pharmacy, said he felt delighted with the achievements of the Mongolian alumni, and wished all the best to CPU-ISAAM. He expected that with the platform of the alumni association, more extensive scientific research cooperation can be realized to jointly promote the development of Chinese and Mongolian pharmacy.

Jargalsaikhan Javkulan, Gombodorj Surenmandakh, and Tilyek Akhtolkhyn made their speeches respectively. They thanked CPU and its faculty for their cultivation and guidance, and stated that they would unite with all Mongolian alumni and make more contributions to the development of CPU and the exchanges and cooperation between China and Mongolia in the future.

Later, School of International Education and representatives of the CPU-ISAAM exchanged views on the topics including the development of the alumni association, teacher training, joint training and the scientific research cooperation. A preliminary cooperative intention to jointly organize the China-Mongolia Pharmacy Academic Forum was reached in the meeting. In addition, a video of the best wishes for the 85th anniversary of CPU from overseas students was released during the meeting.

On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of CPU, the establishment of the CPU-ISAAM is an important deployment to further strengthen the ties between Mongolian alumni and China Pharmaceutical University and to promote the cultural exchange and education integration between China and Mongolia. It is a vital practice of “One Belt, One Road” initiative, which plays an important role in promoting the internationalization of CPU and in building a warm home for international students in CPU. It is also of great significance for strengthening cultural exchanges, deepening mutual understanding and bringing closer people-to-people ties.
