2020 Winter Vacation Notice

To all international students:



According to the University Calendar, the 2020winter vacation will begin on Jan.13 and end on Feb.16, 2020. Nextsemester will begin on Feb.17. All students are required to follow the calendar and return to resume classes on time. Application for leave should be submitted in advance and approved by the School in case of unexpected incident.


Registration

Registration is compulsory and all returning students shall stamp on paper student card in Office G11-107 from Feb.17 to 19. Those who fail to register in time shall apply for extension of registration. Those who fail to pay or be unqualified for registration according to regulations of CPU will not be registered. Those who fail to register without reasons or applications two weeks overdue will be taken as withdrawal.


Make-up exams

For those failed in exams, make-up exam will be arranged Feb.14-16. Make sure to return on-campus before then.


Scholarships

For returning CSC and Jiangsu government full scholarship students (except those who are graduating or extending study), please take February fingerprints between Jan 6-10. To receive the stipend of March, please take fingerprints between Feb.13-19.


Office hours during the vacation

The office staffs will start the break on Jan. 15 and come back to work on Feb.13. During the vacation, office staff will be on duty for certain days. Please pay attention to our official website for the duty schedule and contact. In case of unintended circumstances, please keep in touch with the dorm administrators, your class mentor, guidance counselor or supervisor. Please keep your mobile phone and email available.


Payment and Visa

Please notify that CPU Financial System will shut down for maintenance between Dec.23 and Jan.8. If you haven't completed the next semester's payments, pleaseprepare the money in advance and conduct the Online Payment 1. when the system is open 2.before the due date. The complete payment includes tuition, accommodation (if living on-campus) and insurance (only students on study extension may buy insurance by half year and all the other candidates must buy one year). http://international.cpu.edu.cn/14/d3/c372a5331/page.htm). Final-year and one-year Chinese language students who only paid for one semester are expected to pay for next semester before Dec.23 to get the 180-day visa extension. Other students who paid for one semester shall clear the payment and get the visa extension either between Jan.9-Jan.13 or between Feb. 13 and March 1. All students are strongly advised to apply for resident permit at least two week beforehand and don’t wait till the last day of visa expiration.

Reminders for safe and happy winter vacation

All International students shall fill in the Winter Plan Form with options of staying or leaving, and specific date of leaving and returning, in their respective dorm doorkeepers before December 20.

During the vacation, the office work of visa extension, certification and transcripts, and review for payments/insurance will be suspended. Please arrange your schedule properly. In addition, university's other human services will also be closed, including certifications, recharge of electricity and canteen cards, but self-service machines are still on-the-run. For students who will stay during the winter vacation, please recharge in advance and purchase enough electricity.

Fire prevention is of great importance. Before vacations or if need to leave the room for more than 24 hours, student shall shut down the room electricity, water supply, doors and windows before leaving. Using any kind of fire (including but not limited to: smoking, candles, burning incense) or illegal electrical appliance in the dorm is totally forbidden. There will still be room checks during the vacation, please comply with our residential regulations.

Chinese Laws, decrees & University’s Student Disciplinary Action prevail to address the issues of students’ disruptive behavior off-campus. Please avoid bars, pubs, night clubs, etc. for the potential injury &hospitalization of you and others.

Always take the passport with you. Take it back from the tour guide as soon as you get the hotel room. If the passport is missing, you shall go to the nearest police to issue a Loss Certificate, and go to Nanjing Visa Center to submit the Loss Certificate and other documents, and contact your embassy for a new passport.

Protect your personal information and avoid any kind of fraud and theft. There is no free lunch, please dont put yourself in danger because of some petty favors.

Please book air/train tickets and hotels on official websites (See the how-to HERE) and avoid fishing websites. If you are using taxi booking APP, book the cars with operation permit and company logo, do not take a ride on unlicensed cars. Send you trip route to the person(s) you trust just in case.

If you are traveling with an agency or via APP: Seek for licensed agency instead of unprofessional individual or group. Print the contract and keep it. A formal contract should also include clearly identified travel process, accidental insurance policies, shopping arrangements and refund policies.

If you are traveling with your friends, do not risk your life and others' for fun! Put on the life vest or safety rope during a boat trip or mountain climbing. Some high-risk sports are exemptions of insurance liability.
