Objectives


 By the end of the lecture series, the students should:


  1. Understand the role of pharmacists in the management of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Canada

  2.  Be able to identify the methods to implement clinical pharmacy services to provide care for patients with T2DM

  3. Understand the pathophysiology of T2DM

  4. Be able to make diagnosis of T2DM and pre-diabetes as pharmacists

  5. Be able to manage patients with T2DM using:

  6. Prevention of T2DM complications

  7. Treatment of T2DM complications

  8. Monitoring of patients with T2DM

Course Content includes

Course Assessment

  1. All lectures are mandatory

  2. The evaluation of the students will be based on preparation and participation in the seminars and discussions.


Certificate

At the end of the course, the University of Alberta will issue a certificate of course completion for students who satisfactorily passed the course assessment.
