CPU First Campus International Culture Festival Was Successfully Held

Hosted by Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and co-organized by CFCA, the first Campus International Culture Festival was successfully held on Jiangning Campus on May 14. Several distinguished guests were invited to attend the festival, including Dr. FU Hengsheng, Vice-Secretary of CPC CPU Committee and Secretary of its Discipline Inspection Committee, Dr. XU Xiaoyuan, Director of International Office, and Mr. SHI Zhixiang, Deputy director of International Office, Dr. SUN Dongping, Dean of International Education College, NUST, and guests from other universities.
On the opening ceremony, Dr. FU Hengsheng first gave an opening speech and extended his warm welcome to all the guests and students. Recalling his working experience in Britain, he spoke highly of this Culture Festival and hoped it can play an important role in promoting exchanges between Chinese and International students, enriching campus culture, as well as enhancing the influence of CPU.
The wonderful performances kicked off with the cheer aerobics from artistic gymnastics team of Sports Department. Students from Vietnam, Indonesia and Nepal sang the local music to show their national culture, while students from Palau and Mongolia gave us exotic dances to reveal their passion and hospitality. Besides, the Chinese song My Chinese is not good given by International students of the English-taught programs was not only interesting and touching, but also represented their love and passion towards Chinese culture. Chinese students also gave brilliant performances like beautiful dances from Chinese minority students, Peking Opera, tea ceremony and so forth.
In addition to various stunning performances, International students set up exhibition stand to share their local foods and show a variety of exotic items and pictures, and dressed in costumes with national characteristics and posed for pictures with visitors. Students has interpreted their cultures in their way and expressing sincere wishes to all, which builds a friendship bridge and make it possible for students to feel the world at CPU.
In recent years, increasing importance has been attached to improving the quantity and quality of international students and great efforts have been devoted to enriching students’ campus life. This Campus International Culture Festival serves as a great platform to promote the exchanges and understandings between Chinese and International students.
